George Stephanopoulos celebrates double Emmy nominations for 'This Week' segments - 'Defying Putin on the Air' and 'On the Brink of War'. However, bittersweet news as Good Morning America received no nominations.

The 62-year-old journalist, George Stephanopoulos, stands as ABC's sole nominee at the awards, avoiding in-house rivalry. ABC secured 26 nominations, tying with PBS, while CNN (45) and Vice (30) took the lead.

Since 1981, 'This Week' airs from ABC News studios, first hosted by David Brinkley. George succeeded in 2002, earning fans' praise. He briefly left in 2010 for GMA but returned in 2012. Martha Raddatz and Jonathan Karl co-host since 2016 and 2021, respectively.

George's show has earned numerous Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Live Interview, News Discussion and Analysis, and Breaking News Coverage in 2018. Good Morning America received praise too, winning six times between 2007 and 2021. However, the Morning Program category's closure in 2021 led to a lack of nominations.

If 'This Week' wins, George Stephanopoulos can celebrate with his family, including wife Ali Wentworth. As empty nesters soon, with Harper off to college, they cherish special moments together after Elliott's departure in 2021.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Ali expressed her emotions as Harper prepares for college. Cherishing every moment with her kids' laughter and the little messes they create, she embraces the bittersweet transition.
